Self catering holiday Gite in the Pays de la Loire France

Traditional Detached Stone and Beamed Character Cottage with Pool and 2 Chalets.

Nestled in an acre of fenced private and secluded gardens.

 

Les Epinais offers self catering accommodation in the beautiful region of the Alps Mancelle in the department of Sarthe in the Western Loire.

Located in a peaceful hamlet on the outskirts of the village of St Paul Le Gaultier. This is an area of outstanding beauty renowned for walking and cycling.

There are many local villages nearby including Lassay Le Chateau, Fresnay sur Sarthe, and Villaines la Juhel,

with shops, cafes, bakeries, supermarket, bank, petrol station, and weekly markets.

Sille le Guillaume is about 8 miles away and has a Chateau, shops,bars and restaurants. It also has a lake and a beach with watersport facilities including windsurfing, sailing, fishing, swimming, or simply sunbathe!

Within an hours drive is Le Mans, Mayenne, Laval, and Alencon. 

The Cottage

There is a comfortable lounge with TV, Video and DVD player. A   selection of family and children’s films are available.

Dining area with seating for eight.

Kitchen with electric oven, Gas hob, washing machine, and microwave.

A cot and highchair are available on request.

The Bedrooms

 

The master bedroom is upstairs and also has bunkbeds. There is a separate bathroom with bath/shower.

A further double bedroom with adjoining shower room/toilet is on the ground floor.

All bed linen is included free of charge.

The Chalets


Situated in the Garden are two French chalets. They are for your use and will not be let to any other party.
(Chalets do not have private facilities. Guests will need to use the bathroom or shower room in the main house.)


Chalet One has two single beds.

 

Chalet Two has a double bed .

Outside

 

There is a private pool with superb views over the surrounding countryside (pool not heated), and a dedicated BBQ area.

The  barn incorporates a games room  with a half Size snooker table and 3/4 size table tennis table.

 

Places to visit

Lassay Les Chateaux - boasts a magnificent castle which operates regular guided tours. It has good walks, cycle routes and trails around the town. Sille le Guillaume is about 8 miles away and has a Chateau, shops, bars, and restaurants. There is a beautiful, safe swimming beach at Sillé Plage within the national forest of Sillé, with cafes and restaurants, picnic areas, forest walks, windsurfing, sailing and pedalo hire. The spa town of Bagnoles del Orne is worth a visit with it’s lake, casino, fine shops, bars and restaurants. There are pony rides, pedalos, tennis, golf and riding stables.
Carrouges – has a beautiful chateau and is the headquarters of the National Park. Le Mans has a medieval OldTown with narrow cobbled streets and stone houses. Le We recommend visiting Vieux Mans, with its historic streets, superb cathedral, Jacobite architecture and cosmopolitan restaurants.Best known for it’s annual 24hr motor race, why not visit the famous race track and museum St Ceneri-le-Gerais, said to be the prettiest village in France, is home to artists and good restaurants.

 

The old town of St Leonard des Bois is only a short drive away with river walks, pony trekking, and Kayak hire. There are also a selection of bars and restaurants.

The Arbre & Aventure is a Go-Ape experiance for the whole family. There are five courses aimed at varying  ages and ability. Great fun - not to be missed!

In Fresnay sur Sarthe there is a heated, outdoor swimming pool open in summer, cafés, tennis courts, a skate board park, a cinema, an internet centre, shops, restaurants and a Saturday market.

Alencon - is only a 25 minute drive and  has half-timberd and ornate stone buildings. There are a good selection of shops and restaurants.

Saint Suzanne – is a fortified medieval village overlooking a gorge with jousting on Sundays.

Laval - Old historic town dominated by its 11th century chateau. The old town has plentiful shops and restaurants. And nearby is a 27 hole golf course.

Les Jublains - is a Gallo-Roman city which has Roman ruins and a museum.

Why not take a trip to Paris (55 min), Bordeaux or Nantes on the extremely fast TGV train, leaving from Le Mans. Drive past Le Mans and you are quickly in the château and vineyard area of the Loire valley, a very interesting day trip.

How to Find Us..

 

The port of Caen is just two hours drive from Les Epinais. St Malo and Cherbourg ports are 3 hours drive, and Le Harve 3 hours.

Calais and Boulougne ports are 5 hours drive.

Dinard, Tours, and Rennes airports are just 2/3 hours drive from Les Epinais.
